Understanding your costs
We want you to have a clear idea of costs from the beginning. That’s why our costs include our care and support, along with the things we know families will need from us.
There are still choices you can make depending on what feels right for you and your family. We will talk these through with you, including what they may cost, so you know what to expect.
Cremation or Burial Without a Service - $6,000
For families choosing a cremation or burial without a funeral or memorial service.
A deposit of $3,000 will be required as a part of our services.
You can still spend time together and be involved in their care. You may wish to have a viewing, help with dressing or have them at home for a time. We will support you with whatever feels right for you and your family.
The $6,000 includes our care and support throughout the arrangements, your choice of casket from our included range and the things needed for the cremation or burial.
For burials, cemetery plot and digging fees are separate and vary between cemeteries.
Cremation or Burial With a Service - $8,000
For families choosing a cremation or burial with a funeral or memorial service.
A deposit of $3,000 will be required as a part of our services.
The $8,000 includes all of the care and arrangements included in our $6,000 option, as well as our time and support to plan, prepare for and look after the funeral or memorial service.
We will work alongside you to understand what matters to your family, plan the service and bring everything together. We will coordinate the people and places involved, prepare for the service and be there on the day to support your family and make sure everything is taken care of.
For burials, cemetery plot and digging fees are separate and vary between cemeteries.

Please talk with us. We can talk through what’s included, where you have choices and ways to keep costs manageable for your family.
Agencies that can help with the cost of a funeral are:
- Work & Income – a funeral grant may be available depending on assets and income of the deceased
- ACC provides a grant for accidental deaths
- Other entitlements are available for ex-service personnel and their families
Funerals for babies and children
We have separate, reduced pricing for babies and children. Please get in touch with us and we can talk through the options, costs and what feels right for you and your family.
We will care for your baby or child with gentleness and respect, while supporting you and your family in whatever way feels right for you. There will be opportunities to spend time together if you wish and we will guide you through the arrangements at your own pace.
For babies up to 50 cm, a casket can be provided at no cost, thanks to a partnership between St John’s Rotary, the Eastern Bays Men’s Shed and Aroha Funerals.
Burial Costs
There are additional costs for burial which vary greatly between the cemeteries.
These include…
- Purchase of a new plot
- Digging Fee

If you already own the plot, we will help you with the paperwork, but there will still be a digging fee. If it is owned by someone else in the family, we can help you with the paperwork.
Payment Information
A deposit of $3,000 will be required as a part of our services.
We accept payment by credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay, and direct bank transfer.
Your final account will be prepared within a few days of the funeral, once all costs incurred on your behalf have been confirmed. The invoice will be emailed and/or posted to you and is due for payment within 14 days of the invoice date.
If the invoice is paid before the due date, a $200 early-payment discount may be applied.
Please note: This discount does not apply to direct cremation or direct burial services.

If payment is not received by this date, additional recovery steps may be taken, which may include referral to an external collection agency. Any costs associated with debt recovery may be added to the outstanding balance. We understand this is a difficult time financially as well as emotionally.
