In the Community

Small things, meaningful impact

At The business’, our work doesn’t end at the funeral. We’re proud to be part of the South and East Auckland community — supporting local initiatives, giving back where we can, and connecting with others who care about people and the planet.

Media Features

We’ve been grateful to share our approach and values through various media features, including stories about sustainable funeral care and community-focused work.

Community Work

Tree Planting

In line with our eco-friendly values, we support native tree planting initiatives — including planting a tree in memory of every person we care for. It’s a small gesture that honours life and gives something back to the whenua (land).

Staff Volunteer Days

Our team regularly sets aside time to contribute to local community projects. Whether it’s supporting environmental clean-ups or local events, we believe in showing up and lending a hand.

Collaborations & Partnerships

🛠️ MenzShed Collaboration

We’re proud to partner with local MenzShed groups who create meaningful items for families — such as custom urns or memory boxes — while offering older men a place of connection, creativity, and purpose.

🤝 Other Community Initiatives

We support a range of local organisations and charities through quiet giving and practical help. As our community relationships grow, so does our commitment to giving back.

Want to Collaborate?

We’re always open to working with others who share our values. If you’re part of a community project, charity, or initiative and think we can help, get in touch.

Cultural Care

To reassure and inform families that The business’ provides culturally respectful, inclusive funeral services. This page should communicate cultural understanding and flexibility while reinforcing ’s role as a supportive partner — never directive — in honouring tradition, identity, and family values.

Funeral services that honour your people, your culture, your way.

At The business’, we know that farewells are deeply personal — shaped by culture, spirituality, and family tradition. We’re proud to support whānau and communities across South and East Auckland with care that reflects what matters most to them.

Whether you’re planning a Māori tangihanga, a Pacific Island funeral, a religious ceremony, or a blended farewell, we’ll walk alongside you with and respect.

Support for All Faiths and Cultures

Our team is experienced in working with a wide range of cultural and spiritual traditions, including:

  • Christian (Catholic, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Baptist, and more)
  • Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, and Buddhist families
  • Secular or non-religious farewells
  • Blended, multicultural, or interfaith services

We’ll support you in creating a service that truly reflects your loved one — their beliefs, their story, and the people who loved them.

Funeral Care That Respects Tikanga

We are honoured to support Māori whānau in holding tangihanga at home, on the marae, or in our own spaces. We work with kaumātua and iwi to ensure:

  • Tikanga is upheld
  • Whānau are empowered to lead and participate
  • Our role is one of guidance, respect, and manaakitanga

Whether it’s preparing the tūpāpaku, supporting karakia, or assisting with transport to the marae, we follow your lead — always.

Pacific Funeral Traditions

We regularly support Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islands, Fijian, and other Pacific families with large, community-led farewells.

We can assist with:

  • Coordination with churches and cultural leaders
  • Extended family involvement and large gatherings
  • Cultural dress, music, and rituals
  • Practical logistics like transport, timing, and viewing

We understand that Pacific funerals are rooted in connection, honour, and service — and we’re here to support every step.

Not Sure Where to Start? That’s Okay.

If you’re unsure how best to honour your loved one’s cultural background — or if you have mixed or blended family needs — talk to us. We’ll listen, guide gently, and help you create a farewell that feels right for your whānau.
